sUNSHINE eMERY
Executive Director

Shawn “Sunshine” Emery is a native Texan, educator, and performer.  She founded People Feeding People, Inc., in 2016 as a way to “feed people's mind, body and soul by offering food, friendship, and support.”

“Much of what I bring to the nonprofit world was born from 10 years' experience as an educator. Learning, inspiring, and helping others to share and grow.” Her experiences with homelessness as a teenager and teaching at Terrell Elementary and Poolville Junior High instilled a deep passion to give back.  People Feeding People, Inc., provided a way to combine her love of community and music.

Sunshine graduated with honors from Texas Wesleyan University with a BS in Liberal Studies and is a certified Teacher.  She teaches music classes and regularly performs in North Texas and national venues.

Sunshine has been married to Chris Garland Emery for over 20 years and is the proud mother of two grown children.   Her extended family includes three rat terriers, a cat, and several chickens.

Sunshine’s hobbies include kayaking, white water rafting, camping, hiking, traveling, zip lining, writing, photography, making jewelry, event planning, cooking, trying new things, attending live performances (plays, concerts, sports, rodeo), spending time with family and friends, and “stopping to smell the roses.”  Sunshine hopes when she leaves this world it will be better as a result of her efforts and kindness.
